The Strand & Councillors Beach
It’s always good to return to the shore on sunny days. Dunmore East is like a tropical oasis in the summer months. It has a magnetic draw for people of all ages. Visitors love to swim the bay and discover the unique coves Dunmore East has to offer. Others prefer to stand on the headland and take in the mesmerizing view across to the Hook Peninsula. Children, grandparents, friends alike love spending time relaxing on the beach with its sheltered coves and hidden sea caves or go swimming and snorkelling during the day in Badger’s or Stony Cove. Re-charged and re-booted, you’re ready for the world again!
Dunmore East Woodland Walks
Just a short few minutes walk from the holiday park, head deep into enchanting Dunmore East Woods and watch as sunlight dances on the leafy canopy overhead. The 6km loop is a manageable route through the forest into the village and is suitable for most walking abilities.
Take a shady wander on a sunny day and soak up the peaceful atmosphere or bring the kids on an evening stroll to spot the fairy houses dotted among the towering trees. After, let them burn off some energy in the nearby playground.
Dunmore East Coastal Walks
The Dunmore East to Ballymacaw cliff path via Portally and Rathmoylan coves is a spectacular coastal path you will always remember. Dotted with benches, it’s a great place for a family hike. This part of the coast is heavily eroded by wild winter storms from the south-east and the gleaming red sandstone cliffs are where you’ll spot fulmars and kittiwakes.
